CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL JUNIORS

We have received some fantastic feedback from Northern Lakes after last Saturday’s matches and I would personally like to congratulate all our Juniors. Special mention goes to Tiger, Owen, Jake, Fin, Ray (coach) & Shane (mgr) from our U14s. The maturity and spirit of fair play demonstrated on the weekend, especially by these boys, is commendable. Well done Panthers, keep it up. See below....

I thought I would drop you a line to thank the Terrigal Avoca Panthers for the fantastic display of sportsmanship displayed against the Northern Lakes Power today particularly our U/14's. As you know our U/14's are always low in numbers as we always play with minimum numbers each week. Our win/loss has been more on the loss side this year - but the kids still turn up for training and games each week.

Ray (Terrigal Avoca Panthers U/14's Coach) approached me "before" the game and said he would hand over 3 players to even up the sides. This I thought was a nice gesture. These 3 players ( Jake, Tiger and Owen) made a huge difference to our team and played in the spirit that is very seldom seen in our competition. All 3 players played hard and fair for OUR side.

I have not seen our team play as well as they did today. Normally by 1/2 or 3/4 time - after the mercy rule has kicked in - our guys are switched off and dejected. This was not the case today where we actually led at the 1/2 time break. The kids actually ran in to the 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 time huddles.

The whole team lifted today and everyone was excited to play. One of our normally quiet and reserved players played out of his skin - as did the whole team. At 3/4 time "Tiger" had to leave the game and I was impressed that "Jake" went over and grabbed "Fin" to play for us who was also outstanding in the last quarter. I have not seen our U/14's team so excited for a long time.

Although we lost the game - the kids reaction was if they won the "Grand Final". To actually not be beaten by the mercy rule - was a real bonus - and to actually get close to the current "unbeaten" ladder leaders was exceptional. This would not have been possible without the support of the 3 players, Ray and Shane ( Team Manager). Our team was never going to be a serious threat to the game - however you have instilled confidence in our team that they CAN play footy.

The most pleasing aspect is that as our guys were packing up to go home after the game they all said " See you on Thursday at Training TK" - that is something not heard very often". Thank you very much for instilling confidence back into our U/14's team - it goes to show that there are clubs out there who place importance on the reason why we are really here - for the kids. I now have 12 players who feel really good about themselves today - thanks to your club.

I also forgot to mention that the same ethics were displayed with the U/10's and U/12's games. I commend your club ethics and would like to ask that you pass this onto all your club members. We look forward to our next encounter with your club. On behalf of Northern Lakes Power JAFC - thank you for a great day

Glen, Dave and Lachlan

I thought you might appreciate a "positive" note for once.

Kind Regards
