SENIORS MID-SEASON UPDATE
Round 9 has come and gone so we are officially halfway through the 2009 season. For the most part the club is enjoying one the best mid season positions it has seen in many years. With both the First Grade and U18 sides sitting undefeated on top of the ladder and the Reserve grade side outside the 4 but still in touch if a few things turn around in the second half.
Bishy has led the first grade side to a tremendous start with the boys proving not only are they able to punish sides with some huge goal scoring ability but they have also shown they have true grit in being able to hold on to the close finishes when really pressed. At this stage they sit 1 game clear on the ladder with one still to be played due to postponement. A win there will see them 2 games clear and in a commanding position running to the finals. The seniors should be applauded having 7 players make the representative side. An achievement mirrored by every on field performance this year. Gongy's return to the club has been welcomed with his top spot on the goal kicking tally however close behind is Pete Van Dam who is enjoying a stellar season. The big plus has been the continuing great form of the Under 18's players who are really grabbing their opportunities and making their mark on senior football.
Reserve Grade it is safe to say have fallen a little below expectation. The playing group agree that they have underachieved so far. There has been a huge turnover of players and getting the same 22 on the field has been difficult however no excuses can be made for only playing 2 quarters of a 4 quarter game. With some better signs in recent weeks and a bit of stability there is confidence that the second half of the season can be turned. The 2's are still in touch of finals however a huge and united effort will be required in the final rounds if they are to achieve their potential.
The U18's are carving along punishing most sides that they come up against. This is especially pleasing given that a large proportion of their playing group are getting first grade opportunities each week. Opportunities those players have adapted to with ease. Most weeks Mal has the luxury of selecting from more players than he needs which suggests that enthusiasm is high in the squad and that the Terrigal Avoca footy club is nurturing a terrific and positive atmosphere for the younger guys to be apart of.
Off the field the club is meeting it's targets. We are sitting third on the Prime Club of the Year table and despite the huge financial commitment to be apart of the league we are making ends meet, however all players and anyone associated with the club is encouraged to get behind all of our fundraising events and functions as you've done so well so far this year to help continue our great Footy Clubs Tremendous run so far in 2009.

Panthers Trivia Night
Thanks to everyone who attended the Trivia night and made it a great success. The club raised record funds for a Trivia night which is traditionally a top earner for us. A tremendous night was enjoyed by all with the culmination in a 'Dance Off' between the 2 top teams. The result... Questionable at best. Well Done Gav & Coz for organising. Stay tuned for details on our next night out which is.... Red Face Night. Start working on your acts!

New Panther!
A big congratulations to Cameron and Cassie on the very late arrival of of their new little man Sunny. Although he was overdue he had impeccable timing entering the world perfectly between Golf Day Monday and Match Day Sunday. He even had the Good Grace to arrive Friday afternoon giving the team the unavoidable opportunity to salute his arrival with plenty of time to recover for the Sunday Game. Top Stuff Sunny. Your timing is as good as your Dad's Kick!
